Work of P. H. Mair is so far the greatest work on the theme of knightly art and its disciplines. More than 2000 pages of the original three volumes made as manuscripts served as a foundation for this English translation of long sword sections. This book is a beautiful compendium of all 136 techniques described in two volumes. It covers basically all long sword techniques presented by Mair in his work. This book also contains a unique biography based on research of Paul von Stetten and P. H. Mairs personal memoirs. Petr Turya, author of this translation, spent years researching on Mairs legacy. The book is leading a student into a unique environment of Augsburger fencing brotherhood, which participated in its creation. The whole Mairś project is a piece of art. Illustrations are made by Jorg Breu the junger.
Renaissance painter and artist. Each page shows a bit of a different part of new age fashion and equipment. Each page of this book has been designed as original, respecting the original manuscript. Every ornament had been added manually, so this print reflects a bit of the original beauty. It is not only the translation of fencing descriptions. Inside you will find a list of weapon descriptions finished by unique notes about six weaknesses and necessary virtues needed by every fencer.
